Jobs in Eastbourne

Eastbourne Jobs

Jobs in Eastbourne offer a wide variety of opportunities, linked to Eastbourne's diverse business strengths and it's position as the sunniest place in britain.

Jobs can be found in manufacturing, health care, retail, administration, the conference industry and of course hotels amongst other areas.

Part time, full time, weekend and seasonal jobs exist across many of Eastbourne's employment sectors.

Probably the two biggest single employers are Eastbourne Council and the National Health Service at Eastbourne General Hospital, but as an industry, tourism is also one of the biggest sources of Eastbourne jobs.

Eastbourne Council offers job opportunities in a wide range of areas, including tourism jobs, gardening jobs, receptionist jobs, finance jobs, historian jobs, social care jobs, planning jobs, trainee jobs and many others.

The NHS at Eastbourne General Hospital offers not only nursing jobs, but also jobs for porters, cleaners, maintenance staff, catering staff, receptionists, admin staff, accountants and industry experienced managers. There are plenty of job opportunities at Eastbourne General Hospital, for day shifts, night shifts, split shifts, part time, full time and volunteering jobs.

The tourism industry covers not only hotels, but also the many supporting facilities, including restaurants and theatres and of course the many attractions and events that bring people to Eastbourne in the first place. Service industry jobs can be found in all the main areas.

You only have to walk along Eastbourne seafront to experience the range of attractions that need staff to deliver their services. From west to east, starting under the shadow of Beachy Head, some of the services that stand out would include The Grand Hotel opposite Wishtower green, the Wishtower Cafe, perched on top of Wishtower hill, the Martello tower museum, next to the cafe, and the RNLI shop at the bottom of the Wishtower slopes (a great chance for volunteering in Eastbourne).

Moving along you will find the TUC conference centre, and a range of hotels on the upper promenade, while a number of kiosks and cafe's lead you along the lower promenade to the iconic landmark of Eastbourne Bandstand and then the prominent and well maintained Pier with it's amusements, bars, restaurants and night club, all offering work opportunities throughout the year. Don't miss Harry Ramsden's and the Belgian Cafe with their great sea food and sea views attracting visitors who need serving, between the Bandstand and the pier.

Heading further east from Eastbourne Pier you will pass many more large hotels with jobs for chambermaids, waiters, bar staff, front of house staff and of course jobs in admin and finance, before reaching the children's attractions such as fort fun, passing the angling club, sailing club and bowls club on the way. Don't miss the historical Redoubt Fortress museum with its napoleonic and wartime Eastbourne collections, creating Eastbourne Borough Council Jobs. The Sovereign Centre with it's swimming pools and fitness facilities lead you on to Eastbourne's Sovereign Marina with its shops and restaurants offering a variety of jobs and career opportunities.

Eastbourne's great wide seafronts, greens and parks offer great opportunities for events to be held through the year, and there are many event jobs on offer. With Eastbourne's events ranging from the Aegon International Tennis tournament at the Devonshire Park complex in June, to Eastbourne Airbourne, the biggest free airshow in the uk taking place on the promenade in August, and Eastbourne Cycling Festival, Eastbourne Extreme, Magnificent Motors, Eastbourne Fiesta, the Beachy Head Marathon and many other major events taking place every year there are plenty of Event jobs on offer, both on a paid and volunteer basis.

A stroll around town will make you aware of Eastbourne's other major job opportunity, looking after the many foreign language students that come and stay in the town to improve their English. As well as language teaching jobs at the many language schools in Eastbourne, a good source of income can be found by being a host family to one or two students at a time.

Eastbourne offers a great and varied night life for it's residents and the students studying at the Brighton University campus in Eastbourne, so bar jobs are available, not only in the many pubs available, but also in it's four main theatres, and the Bandstand.

As you might imagine, theatres offer a great range of jobs, from ticket sales to catering and cleaning, and for those that are good with their hands or have an artistic flair, there is plenty of set building to do for the many extravagant shows that come to Eastbourne each year. These Eastbourne Jobs also come with the chance to star spot thrown in for free!

The Little Chelsea area of Eastbourne is it's artistic hub, and offers jobs in design and jobs in marketing.

Eastbourne is also famous as a retirement town, and jobs in caring are abundant. As well as nursing and care jobs at the Eastbourne General Hospital, the many care homes in Eastbourne are always looking for staff and offer part time jobs, full time jobs, night shifts and other opportunities for those that have other commitments that mean they find it difficult to work from 9 to 5.

All these employment areas require supplies to function, and a support industry exists with jobs for engineers, production line staff, warehouse staff and drivers. All these people working in and visiting Eastbourne also need some retail therapy and Eastbourne's busy town centre has plenty of retail jobs in major shops including Debenhams, Boots, WH Smiths, M&S, Sainsburys, etc. Eastbourne's Arndale Centre offers all the major retail areas from mobile phones to health products and cameras and clothes, so whatever your background there are retail jobs to suite you.

So how do you find these jobs? A good starting place is the ActivEastbourne jobs page, where job seekers and employers can come together with ease.
